Students: Stamp Your Way to Success

Students, pick up a “passport” card at the February Fest for Student Success. Collect stamps by visiting the different tables and redeem your card for student success prizes. You may also enter to win one of the grand prizes – a $100 KCC Bookstore gift card or KCC power buddy!

Reading Across the Disciplines (RAD) Online Workshop

Sign up for the 2016 RAD Spring Cohort. We all look forward to sharing and learning about reading strategies in different disciplines and how we can incorporate these into our teaching.

RAD 2016 Online Workshop participants will:

• complete a pre and post survey to document changes in their understanding and teaching methods of reading within their discipline;
• have access to the vast RAD Resources in Laulima;
• partner with another online participant to share learning and receive additional support;
• experience three (3) online check-ins with the RAD Team coordinators and fellow RAD participants;
• be encouraged to join Friday face-to-face meetings for individualized support and discussions; and
• receive a Certificate of Completion once all online units and post survey are completed.

The RAD Workshop runs February 8th – March 11th. Participants will experience an online workshop and be able to attend RAD presentations by colleagues from across the UHCC System at the Hawai’i Strategy Institute (HSI) March 4 – 5. 2016.

Reminder: SLO Friday featuring SLO Skills

Join us this Friday, Jan 29 for Part 1 of our Assessment Basics Course (ABC).

In Part 1, Developing Learning Outcomes, you will broaden your SLO knowledge and hone your assessment skills by learning more about the first step in the SLO assessment process. What are SLOs? How can I write good SLOs? Why do SLOs need to be assessable? Explore these questions and more in this SLO Skills session.

THINK—Chocolate: Food of the Gods

By popular request, Susan Jaworowski is THINK-ing again about chocolate.  No food inspires as much passion as chocolate. Susan will tell us why as we delve into the history, nature, and making of chocolate. The session will be capped by a chocolate tasting.  Other light refreshments will also be served. Are you looking to incorporate more reading strategies into your teaching? Do you need a refresher from a previous RAD workshop? Please join us as we host the RAD Online Workshop this semester on our campus.

RAD 2016 Online Workshop participants will:

•complete a pre and post survey to document changes in their understanding and teaching methods of reading within their discipline;
•have access to the vast RAD Resources in Laulima;
•partner with another online participant to share learning and receive additional support;
•experience three (3) online check-ins with the RAD Team coordinators and fellow RAD participants;
•be encouraged to join Friday face-to-face meetings for individualized support and discussions; and
•receive a Certificate of Completion once all online units and post survey are completed.

The RAD Workshop runs February 8th – March 18th. Participants will be able to work at their own pace since this is an online workshop.
