Faculty Information Literacy Award: Designing Meaningful Research Assignments

Do you wish your students would integrate better research sources, be savvy information consumers, and apply critical thinking skills as they evaluate online information? Be one of 10 instructional faculty members to attend two one-hour workshops and create or revise an information literacy assignment for your course. During the two 1-hour workshops on July 20 and July 27, 2021, from 10:00-11:00, you will apply the Framework for Information Literacy for Higher Education by the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL) to your curriculum.

Eligibility: Any instructors who have research-related learning outcomes, such as writing research papers, conducting undergraduate research, or incorporating more critical thinking and information literacy in their curriculum. 

Stipend: $200 upon completion of a report reflecting on their new information literacy assignment implemented in the fall 2021 semester. Limited to 10 instructional faculty (9-month).

Time: Two 1-hour workshops and two hours preparation.

Reminder: HR Quarterly Meeting (July 9, 2021, Friday)

KapCC HR Department will be hosting its third Quarterly Meeting on Friday, July 9, 2021, from 9 am to 10:30 am via Zoom (registration required: click here).

We will be going over some updates, upcoming deadlines, and other HR processes.

Please note that the first hour is important for all the employees and the last 30 minutes will be primarily focused on administrative support staff and department chairs. We would recommend attending at least the first hour to get all the updates.

Culinary Institute of the Pacific (CIP) Virtual Town Hall – Thursday, July 1st, 5:00 p.m.

If you want to hear the latest update about the Culinary Institute of the Pacific (CIP) at Diamond Head, register for the free Virtual Town Hall Meeting scheduled for Thursday, July 1st, 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. Simply register at: http://go.hawaii.edu/Y5A. Chancellor Pagotto, the CIP team, UHCC Capital Improvements staff, and contractors will share current design/build and construction information with participants. The Virtual Town Hall is hosted by the KapCC Office of Community and Continuing Education.

This being KapCCʻs 75th Anniversary, we are fortunate to witness the construction of the CIP Phase 2, which includes an Innovation Lab and the long-awaited CIP Restaurant at such a beautiful and historic location as Diamond Head State Monument.
