Admin. Feedback Survey Opens March 6

Soon, you’ll be invited to complete feedback surveys for our campus Administrators.

The new Kapi‘olani Community College Administrative Leadership Feedback System (ALFS) is being piloted this semester. The purpose of this Feedback System is to provide an opportunity for faculty & staff to share valuable insights, to afford our campus leaders greater access to the faculty/staff perspective, to enhance campus communication, and to increase transparency.

The first step of this new System is an opportunity for all faculty & staff to give feedback to any/all administrators on this campus. Feedback surveys will be anonymous, and participation is voluntary. As a faculty or staff member, you will receive your invitation to participate on Monday, March 6, 2017, and you will have until Friday, March 24, 2017 to complete the survey(s).

For more information on the Administrative Leadership Feedback System, watch this narrated Prezi and/or contact any member of the ALFS Pilot Implementation Team:

29th Annual International Festival March 20-23

The KCC International Festival is coming to you once again in March!

The Kapi’olani Community College 29th Annual International will be held March 20-23, 2017 on the Kapi’olani Community College campus and includes prominent guest speakers, music, dance, art, films, literature and poetry that beautifully showcase the diversity of cultures found in the world today through highly interactive student and guest presentations.

The KCC International Festival is considered one the college’s signature events, known throughout the UHCC system, by faculty, staff, and students as well as garnering a significant following and recognition by people in the community.

This year’s music line up includes numerous Na Hoku Hanohano award winners, such as Alan Akaka, Ku’uipo Kumukahi, Ian O’ Sullivan, and including acclaimed guitarist Jay Koseki,  plus a promising young fabulous ukulele player Mika Kane. In addition, the KCC Synthesizer Ensemble, directed by Anne Craig-Lum will perform songs from around the world.

In addition, collaboration with the UHM College of Social Sciences (UHM-CSS) brings us presentations and guest speakers such as the Chair of Anthropology, Dr. Christian Peterson, as well as representatives from UHM-CSS International Programs, and Dr. Ulla Hasager, Director of Civic Engagement for the College of Social Sciences.

Performances by Kenny Endo & the Taiko Center of the Pacific, the Middle Eastern Dance Association of Hawaii, and student performances by the Bayanihan (Filipino) Student Club, the Korean Club (K-Pop), and the Spanish Language classes (Sevillanas).

On Thursday, March 23 you can find tables in the Ohia Cafeteria representing SPANISH LANGUAGE & CULTURE CLUB, BAYANIHAN (FILIPINO) CLUB FRENCH LANGUAGE & CULTURE CLUB, KOREAN LANGUAGE & CULTURE CLUB, CHINESE LANGUAGE & CULTURE CLUB, KCC ECONOMICS & BUSINESS CLUB, INTERNATIONAL CLUB and PHI THETA KAPPA.

The Koa Gallery will feature the late artist Chuck Davis, and on display will be his fine art and humerous and animated selections from his sketchbook.

Also, there will be a photo exhibit of images from Vietnam by Bob Jones & Denby Fawcett, who
met in Vietnam as photojournalists. Their extensive collection of images tell a fascinating visual story.

Numerous international films will be shown daily, such as films hosted by Dr. Guido Pigliasco, Julie Rancilio, and Elaina Malm. Also, invite your colleagues and friends to attend the well established film series hosted by Kalani Fujiwara in the evenings in the Kopiko Building.

In addition, there will be surprise international dishes each day in the Ohi‘a Cafeteria courtesy of Chef David Hamada and Chef Lee.

Mark your calendars for a week of international learning and engagement, and invite students in your classes, your colleagues, your friends and community to attend the events of the 29th Annual International Festival at KCC.

Engage. Learn. Achieve.
