President’s Emerging Leaders Program 2018-19 Cohort

Congratulations to Lisa Kanae, LLL department chair; May Kealoha, nursing faculty; and Kelli Nakamura, history instructor; who have been appointed as Kapi‘olani CC’s participants in the President’s Emerging Leaders Program (PELP). They will join faculty and staff selected from the other UH campuses and system offices to participate in the 2018-19 cohort of this professional development program designed to identify and prepare future leaders within the University of Hawai‘i System. We are proud to have Lisa, May and Kelli represent Kapi‘olani in this distinguished program.

Potluck Celebration on Friday, June 29

All are welcome to a potluck celebration on Friday, June 29, immediately following the ‘Awa Ceremony, as we begin a new era under the leadership of Chancellor Louise Pagotto.  Please join us in 220 Grille at 4:00 pm and bring your favorite potluck dish (no alcoholic beverages).  See you all there!

Welcome, MMJ Group! (June 24-26)

Please welcome MMJ Group from Japan to KCC campus from Sunday, June 24 to Tuesday, June 26.

14 participants from Japan will visit Kapi’olani CC (KCC) for a three-days intensive Hawaiian Culture and Hula program coordinated by the Paul S. Honda International (HIC).

This program focuses on the characteristics of Hawaiian culture, history, language, and Hawaiian values related to traditional and modern hula. This academic and hands-on program will consist of classroom instruction, hands-on training by KCC faculty. The MMJ group participants also take a special hands-on workshop of Niʻihau shell lei making.
