Wāhine Wednesdays (3/7): Native Hawaiian Women in Engineering Panel

March is International Women’s Month, so please help us celebrate women in STEM!  Next week Wednesday (3/7), KapCC STEM program is hosting a panel of amazing Native Hawaiian female engineers from HECO, Pearl Harbor Shipyard, and Boeing (two are KapCC alumni!).

Only 20% of engineering students are female and even less choose to pursue engineering as a career. In Hawaiʻi, only 12-15% of engineering students are Native Hawaiian. Learn about the pathway these women took to become engineers, what kind of job opportunities are available, and how they see their gender, cultural, and professional identities interplay with each other.

FREE FOOD will be provided.

Cybersecurity Is A Topic for Everyone – Monday, March 12

Cybersecurity is a topic for everyone. When money is stolen, intellectual property is taken, and identities are hijacked, individual lives are impacted and often lost. Sometimes cybsersecurity discussions seem incomprehensible, however topics are being adjusted to be logical and easier to understand.

Mr. Reynold Hioki, State of Hawai`i, Cybersecurity Coordinator, will present information that covers what Hawai`i is collectively doing to address the cybersecurity challenges of today and to prepare for the future. This presentation provides cyber safety awareness to thrive in today’s digitally connected global community.

Sponsored by the Kapi`olani CC Office of Community Relations, “Hawai`i’s Community is Engaging in Cybersecurity”, is part of the KAIĀULU LECTURE SERIES. All presentations are from 3:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the newly renovated Ohia Auditorium #118. Presentations are free and open to the public. For your sake, don’t miss this informative presentation.
