Aloha mai kākou,

All are invited to attend Pāʻani (Game) Practice for Makahiki this Friday, December 1, 2017 from 9am-12pm on the Great Lawn.  We have been having so much fun learning the games – if you didn’t get a chance to join us last week, it’s not too late to learn and practice!!!

Please join us in practicing Honuhonu, Kulakulaʻi, Pā Uma, Moa Paheʻe, Ulumaika, ʻŌʻō ʻIhe and Kōnane.

Makahiki will be taking place on campus on January 19, 2018, starting at 8:30am.

Lanakila Awards
Also – BIG NEWS – we have eight $500 Lanakila Awards for the winner of each game.  The Lanakila Award will be awarded to students to use for tuition costs in Fall 2018. The student must be in good standing with at least a 2.0 GPA and be enrolled at KCC with 6 or more credits for Fall 2018 to receive the award. If a faculty or staff win the game, they may select a student of their choice to receive the award.

Join a TEAM
If you are interesting in being part of a team, please let us know and/or add your name here. We currently have enough folks for 5 teams, but we would love to add a sixth team for game organizing purposes ;). Teams: start thinking about who you want to compete in which game. For 8 member teams, each member can participate in 2 games.

We have a few extra implements for those who were unable to make their own, so no wait – sign-up!!! The deadline for joining a team is Dec. 8. Questions on teams, etc? Contact Annie Thomas athomas@hawaii.edu

Students: Last Week for Survey

Students:  This is the last week to participate in a survey and be entered into a drawing to win an Apple iPad Mini or a $150 Amazon gift card. The survey ends on December 3, 2017. Survey information will help the College plan for the future by better understanding your communication preferences. The survey will simply ask you about how you use the media and spend your time, as well as ask questions about your communication preferences and opinion of the College’s website.

Annual Lina Doo Commemorative Christmas Caroling

Please join us for the Annual Lina Doo Commemorative Christmas Caroling on Friday, Dec 8, 3:00-4:30. We will gather in ‘Ilima 202A and wend our way though the campus, bringing songs and good cheer to all we meet. No singing ability is required. We have song sheets with lyrics, so no memory is required either. Easy peasy. And fun.
