Applications being accepted for seed grants

Are you a faculty or staff member or program director who would like to initiate a project that will foster a more inclusive environment at the campus?  How about a curriculum project or activity that supports a speaker, author, performance artist or a research project that stimulates and encourages diversity in the classroom or in the community?

The University of Hawaii SEED Office is accepting applications for seed grants through its Diversity and Equity Initiative program.  Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to apply for a DEI Award to fund program activities promoting diversity awareness.

Awards up to $5,000 will be made for both the fall and spring semesters.  Funding requests should be well supported by data on the specific number of students who will benefit from the project.

Applicants are encouraged to contact OFIE for grants development support by early September to begin putting together a competitive proposal.  Since this application needs to be signed by the campus fiscal authority, it should be finalized no later than September 26th for internal review.  Applicants should refrain from submitting proposals directly to UH without campus review.

Campus deadline:  September 26th to OFIE and Business Office.

Allowable costs: honorarium for speakers or performers, materials and supplies (items costing less than $5,000), travel fees to bring out of state speakers to Hawaii, lodging, printing and supply costs, equipment rental, venue rental, administrative support to initiate project.
