Students: submit your academic writing from last semester for publication here at KCC! 

Ka Hue Anahā, Journal of Academic and Research Writing. Use this form to submit academic and research writing from various KCC courses in any academic discipline. $50 is award money available if your work is selected!

Submit by Friday, February 10th by midnight to assure that your paper is considered for publication.

What happens next?

Dawn Khaafidh and Guy Kellogg are faculty here at KCC, helping out with the Board of Student Publications in Spring 2017. Either Dawn or Guy will email you to let you know we got your file OK. In February, Dawn and Guy will meet with student volunteers from the Board of Student Publications to anonymously review all of the papers received. You will know before Spring Break if yours has been accepted for publication 🙂 If you have any questions, please ask. Hawai’i Youth Conservation Corps recruitment 2/2

Kupu, which seeks to “[empower] future generations to create a more sustainable, pono Hawai‘i,” will be recruiting on campus for its Hawai’i Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC) Summer Program on Thurs., Feb. 2.

  • HYCC connects teams of young adults (ages 17-20) with a team leader (age 21+) for seven weeks of intensive culturally engaged mālama ‘āina conservation work, mauka to makai across the island.
  • Tangible benefits include: a $1,222 education award + $500 for members and $4,000 for leaders; training and professional networking; and an optional chance to earn college credit at a highly subsidized rate.
  • The experience awakens a lifelong call to service and stewardship and instills a lasting sense of place and purpose.

“B.I.O. Break” Meetings with Interim Chancellor Pagotto – February 1, 2017 (for Faculty/Staff with 0-5 years at the College)

Interim Chancellor Louise Pagotto invites you to join her for a B.I.O. Break, which stands for “By Invitation Only”, similar to her previous “Ask Me Anything” open sessions where faculty and staff had the opportunity to bring forth any questions or concerns.

On Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 2pm – 3pm, faculty and staff who have been at the College for 0-5 years are invited to meet with her.

On Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 2pm – 3pm, faculty and staff who have been at the College for 6-10 years are invited.

On Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2pm – 3pm, faculty and staff who have been at the College for 11+ years are invited.

All meetings will be held in ‘Ilima 202A.

Team Hawaiʻi Leaves for Regionals

Six of our student chefs will leave this week to compete in the American Culinary Federation Central and Western Regional Salons at Joliet, Illinois. Jeremy C. David, Richard G. Lee, Kimberly Lim, Qihao (Sam) Tan, Sean K. Uyehara, and Christian Rae K. Wong will represent the State of Hawaiʻi and Kapiʻolani Community College Culinary Program at the competition scheduled for February 3 to 5.
