International Funding Grants

The Honda International Opportunities Fund provides funding for activities that support international education for students of the University of Hawai‘i Community Colleges (UHCC). Previously, the Fund focused on offering scholarships to students seeking to study overseas. Due to the success of the Fund, the Office of the Vice President for Community Colleges (OVPCC) has broadened the reach by offering grants to UHCC campuses for international education activities for AY 2015.

One award of up to $5,000 is available per campus.

Last year, HawCC, HonCC, KapCC, KauCC, LeeCC, and WinCC applied for and were awarded grants. We hope that more campuses will apply this year and take advantage of this opportunity to further international education on your campus. Some award recipients have used the grant to fund International Education Week activities; others have used it to fund international education projects/events throughout the year.

Please forward the attached AY 2015 Honda Int’l Opportunities Fund RFP application and Budget Proposal Form to your campus community. This opportunity is open to registered student groups (must have advisor sponsor), faculty, staff and administrators of the UHCC. We encourage interested groups/individuals to be creative and work together on one proposal as only one award per campus may be issued.

Timeline:

1. Proposals due Fri 10/17/14 via email to Colleen Bird, email crmbird@hawaii.edu

2. Notification to grant recipients by 11/6/14 or earlier

Our goal is to enable campuses to broaden the reach of international education to UHCC students in Fall 2014 and Spring 2015.

Mahalo,
Joe Overton
Chair, Honda International Center and
Director , Office for International Affairs
