Non-Credit Registration Office Closed on March 3rd, 2017

To our Continuing Education & Training Community, please be advised that the Non-Credit Registration Office will be closed on March 3rd, 2017 for The Hawai‘i Student Success Institute (HSSI).

Our office will return to normal hours of operation on Monday, March 6th, 2017 from 8:00am-4:00pm. For any inquiries or requests, please call our office at 808-734-9211 and leave a message containing your name and phone number. You will be contacted at the very first opportunity. “B.I.O. Break” Meetings with Interim Chancellor Pagotto – March 1, 2017 (for Faculty/Staff with 6-10 years at the College)

Interim Chancellor Louise Pagotto invites you to join her for a B.I.O. Break, which stands for “By Invitation Only”, similar to her previous “Ask Me Anything” open sessions where faculty and staff had the opportunity to bring forth any questions or concerns.

On Wednesday, March 1, 2017 at 2pm – 3pm, faculty and staff who have been at the College for 6-10 years are invited.

On Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 2pm – 3pm, faculty and staff who have been at the College for 11+ years are invited.

All meetings will be held in ‘Ilima 202A.

**Room Change** Sustainability Open Forum – Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2017

The location of the meeting room has been changed for the Kapi‘olani Community College Sustainability and Climate Action Plan Open Forum.

Welcome Miyazaki Municipal University Students from Japan! (Feb. 27 – Mar. 16)

Please welcome Miyazaki Municipal University (MMU) students from Miyazaki Prefecture, Japan to Kapi’olani CC (KCC) campus from Monday, February 27 to Thursday, March 16.

10 students and one chaperone will visit KCC for three weeks intensive English and Hawaiian Culture program coordinated by the Paul S. Honda International Center (HIC).

This group will take English classes and workshops, Hawaiian culture, cross culture workshops, hula, ukulele, yoga, haku lei making workshops and special lectures on marketing and tourism. The program also includes various site visits such as Iolani Palace, Kamehameha V Judiciary Center, and The Plaza Waikiki.

Hawaii Miyazaki Kenjinkai (Hawaii Miyazaki Prefectural Association) coordinates participation in the Honolulu Festival for the MMU students with Moanalua High School students.

The group will promote products and items from Miyazaki Prefecture at KCC cafeteria on Tuesday, March 14 between 11:30 am and 1:30pm as part of their English activity. Please stop by and meet with the students.

MMU is part of KCC’s international partner institutions.
MMU is offering KCC students to participate in their long-term study abroad program and short-term summer program. For further information, please contact HIC via email at hic@hawaii.edu.

Please welcome Chiba University of Commerce (CUC) students from Chiba Prefecture, Japan to Kapi’olani CC (KCC) campus from Monday, February 27 to Friday, March 17.

Welcome Momoyama Gakuin University Students from Japan! (Feb. 24)

Please welcome Momoyama Gakuin University Social Welfare major students from Osaka Prefecture, Japan to Kapi’olani CC (KCC) campus from Friday, February 24.

14 college students and 6 program participants and two escorting faculty will visit KCC for a half-day intensive social work program coordinated by the Paul S. Honda International Center (HIC).

This group will take two short lectures on the basic principles and concepts of social work and services and environment for people with disabilities the United States/Hawaiʻi. The group will also visit Disability Support Services Office (DSSO) and meet with Deneen Kawamoto, DSSO counselor and DSSO staff.
