4th Annual Art of Healthy-licious Cooking Contest

Kapi`olani CC is a community’s college. And communities within and around the College have benefitted from the exceptional programs the College provides.

Kahala Nui, a not-for-profit organization for senior living, approached Kapi`olani CC several years ago with a proposal that would benefit both the senior living center and the College. With a focus on healthy aging for seniors, Kahala Nui offered student scholarships in exchange for nutritional, healthy recipes that residents of the center would enjoy.

Chef Warren Uchida, Chef David Brown and nutritionist Grant Itomitzu organized stunning performances by four culinary teams during the 4th Annual Kahala Nui Healthy-licious Competition. The 2014 competition winners are David Rasmussen and Christian Rae Wong who won $700 scholarships.

Darlene E. Canto, Director of Marketing and Community Outreach for Kahala Nui, was impressed by the entire CULN team. She cited the honorable values of commitment, generosity, teamwork, patience and dedication to describe each team member, including the coaches.

Congratulations to our student winners, and for the CULN faculty who take Kapi`olani’s indomitable spirit into all the communities that the College serves. Mahalo nui loa!
