Your Kapi‘olani Experience – a Great Day!

There are days when being Chancellor is so very rewarding. The Kapi‘olani Community College All-Campus Open House: Your Kapi‘olani Experience on November 6th was one of those days. I was the tour guide for several dozen members from the community who were excited and interested in our College, asking in depth questions about what we offer. To see our visitors engaged by the activities at the seven “destinations” was such a highlight for me. From the roti at the International Café to the Brain games at the Manono building, our visitors were treated to an enjoyable and informative “experience”.

The Royal Hawaiian Band and the Roosevelt High School Hula Halau added a festive touch to the event. And, of course, the evening would not have been complete without the great chili and pupus by the Culinary department. Nawa‘a Napoleon and Keith Kashiwada kept the energy going throughout the day and Nawa‘a got everyone involved by teaching us a Hawaiian chant. All in all, a true taste of the Kapi‘olani experience.

I thank you all for your commitment to the College, the hospitality that you showed our visitors and the passion you bring everyday. I am grateful to work beside you.

Mahalo.
