        1. Earth Day is every April 22nd to raise awareness about pollution and educate about the environment. It is celebrated by 1 billion people worldwide with rallies, conferences, outdoor activities, and service projects. Earth Day was founded by former senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin in 1970 after a devastating oil spill in 1969. Since then, Earth Day has paved the way for support of the Environmental Protection Agency and passed many bills that will protect our natural environment for future generations. Today at KCC, we celebrate “Earth Week” with Volunteer Week Hawai’i.
