Kupu, which seeks to “[empower] future generations to create a more sustainable, pono Hawai‘i,” will be recruiting on campus for its Hawai’i Youth Conservation Corps (HYCC) Summer Program on Thurs., Feb. 2.
- HYCC connects teams of young adults (ages 17-20) with a team leader (age 21+) for seven weeks of intensive culturally engaged mālama ‘āina conservation work, mauka to makai across the island.
- Tangible benefits include: a $1,222 education award + $500 for members and $4,000 for leaders; training and professional networking; and an optional chance to earn college credit at a highly subsidized rate.
- The experience awakens a lifelong call to service and stewardship and instills a lasting sense of place and purpose.
Interested students should come to an information session with a Kupu representative in ‘Iliahi 231, ‘Elima classroom, at 12:30-1:15 p.m., on Thurs., Feb. 2.
