Mindfulness settles our attention to the present moment with awareness and an attitude of friendliness and curiosity towards ourselves and our experience.   Research on mindfulness indicates that it offers us greater focused attention, more creativity, less reactivity and greater stress-resilience, self-acceptance and empathy.
  • During the four week series we’ll explore both what mindfulness means and engage in the practice itself in ways you can bring into your daily life.
  • We will practice bringing an attentive and loving presence to our breath, bodily sensations, five senses, emotional states, thoughts and whole body awareness.
  • Through talks, guided meditations, interactive exercises and Q&A you will learn about this training of your mind.
  • Join in for the series, or as many sessions as you can, to learn the skills, tips and tools to establish a regular practice.
  • RSVP: yoshidav@hawaii.edu

Tenaya Jackman, MPH began practicing meditation 15 years ago. The wise and gentle training she received in cultivating greater awareness, loving kindness and compassion is the basis for her teaching.  Throughout her 25 years working in public health, and as a midwife, Tenaya has sought to support well being. Mindfulness meditation’s combination of awareness and heart practices, refined over 2500 years, offers a solid path.

Tenaya offers guided meditation sessions at UH Manoa Pause Space, Monday and Wednesday from 1-2 pm.  https://cms.ctahr.hawaii.edu/fcs/pause
