Assisting ESL Students in Non-ESL Classes

Did You Know…?

  • In AY 2015-2016, every class at KCC had one or more non-native speakers of English enrolled as a student.
  • In the same year, the enrollment of non-native speakers was as high as 50% in some non-ESL classes!

Are you prepared to teach the growing population of immigrant and international students at KCC?

The ESL Students in Non-ESL Classes C4ward invites you to an open session on Friday, November 4 from 1:00-2:30pm in Iliahi 123AB to discuss best practices for assisting ESL students in the classroom. KCC faculty will share their simple yet effective strategies for supporting the learning and success of ESL (English as a Second Language) students in the non-ESL classroom.

Featured speakers:

  • Barbara Norfleet (Speech)
  • Beryl Yang (Music)
  • Mark Alexander (Math)
  • Amy Shiroma (HOST)

Everyone is welcome to stop by, listen, ask questions, and join the conversation. Refreshments will be served.

For more information, contact C4ward concierge Yoneko Kanaoka (yoneko@hawaii.edu)
