Join BOSA (Board of Student Activities) and the Kapi’olani PAU (Prevention Awareness Understanding) Violence Coalition for a fun night watching a movie on the big screen!

WHERE: Ohia cafeteria
WHAT: A pizza dinner, popcorn & snacks, games & prizes, a screening of the comedy Plan B*, and audience interaction.

Wear your [respect] t-shirt to show support for KCC’s [respect] Week, as well as Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM).

Your KCC PAU Violence Coalition will be in Kikaha O Lae’ahi (‘Iliahi 231) today from 10:00am-1:00pm, and in the Lamakū Learning Center (Lama Library 2nd floor) from 10:00am-1:00pm tomorrow. Our mission is to raise public awareness about sexual violence and educate communities on how to prevent it. This year’s SAAM theme, I Ask, champions the message that asking for consent is a healthy, normal, and necessary part of everyday interactions.

  • April 3 (10:00am-1:00pm, Lamakū Learning Center, Lama Library 2nd floor)

All event participants will receive a free [respect] shirt, hat, bracelet, or other giveaway!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM). Your KCC PAU Violence Coalition will be hosting a series of events next week to raise awareness of sexual violence and educate our campus community about healthy, safe, and respectful relationships. We invite all students, faculty, staff, and administrators to join us on April 2 (10:00am-1:00pm, Kikaha O Lae’ahi, ‘Iliahi 231) and April 3 (10:00am-1:00pm, Lamakū Learning Center, Lama Library 2nd floor) to celebrate this year’s theme: I Ask.

Activities will include:

  • What is Consent – using cards, categorize certain behaviors as either expressing consent or non-consent. Different responses lead to important conversations about what is consent.
  • Consent memes – create captions for popular memes on social media.
  • Awareness Tabling – join KCC student leaders and members of the PAU Violence Coalition and brainstorm your own strategies for asking for and giving consent.

All event participants will receive a free [respect] shirt, hat, bracelet, or other giveaway!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM), a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness of sexual violence and educating communities on how to prevent it.

The KCC PAU Violence Coalition invites all students, faculty, staff, and administrators to join us on April 2 and April 3 to celebrate this year’s theme, I Ask. All activities will be organized around the message that asking for consent is a normal and necessary part of healthy, respectful relationships.

Reflection Activity for Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM)

Aloha KCC Faculty,

As you prepare your lessons for this Tuesday and Wednesday, consider taking a few minutes of your class time to share the attached activity with your students. It will give them a chance to reflect on the power of their voice to create a culture of respect, equality, and safety.

Anyone who completes the reflection and brings it to the PAU Violence table on April 17 or April 18 in the Lamakū Learning Center will receive a prize!

Other SAAM activities will include:

  • SHOTS screening – a short film and discussion on how alcohol intersects with sex assault.
  • Poetry workshop – a creative and collaborative space to work on an original poem, song, or story.
  • Open mic – share your voice and listen to the voices of others.
  • Awareness Tabling – join the members of the PAU Violence Coalition and get your nails polished, calm yourself by coloring, take your picture at the Instagram booth, and more.

What is the PAU Violence Coalition?
