Title IX Certification: Level I Training For Coordinators, Responsible Employees & Hearing Boards – Part II on Wednesday, July 25, 9 am – 10 am HST.

During this three-part webinar series, the presenter will review the training requirements for Title IX Coordinators, Responsible Employees, and Hearing Boards, which will include, but not be limited to reporting requirements, confidentiality, grievance procedure(s), roles and responsibilities, resources, etc. Since all institutions who receive federal funding must comply with Title IX, it is critical that their Title IX Coordinators, Responsible Employees, and Hearing Boards know how to promptly and effectively respond to allegations of Title IX violations. Institutions must ensure that the rights of complainant’s and respondents are protected and that their grievance procedures are prompt and equitable and have been properly implemented.

Join Claire K. Hall, J.D. for this informative three-part webinar series, during which she will explain the role of Title IX Coordinators, Responsible Employees and Hearing Boards and the training obligations associated with each.

Campus Redesign For Student Success: Innovative Technology, Adaptive Learning & Growth Mindset on Thursday, July 26, 7 am – 8:30 am HST.

Research undertaken into three award-winning community colleges has led to a greater understanding in the interplay of an institution’s vision, its leaders’ behaviors, strategic planning, and the use of data to impact student success. The five key areas identified will be examined: shared vision and communication, creating a culture of evidence, actioning innovation and initiative, accountability, and passionate and purposeful people. These areas will be explored as they relate to several examples of the integration of adaptive learning and high-impact practices at Austin Community College (the ACCelerator), Colorado State University (1st year physics for non-majors), and the University of Mississippi (first-year English).

Pathways & The Transfer Process: Research, Programmatic Efforts & Outcomes  on Thursday, July 26, 9 am – 10:30 am HST.

This webinar will give front-line workers practical and applicable ideas on how to best support students who may need them to communicate in a new way or who may need support in handling difficult tasks or situations. Excellent customer service means that front-line staff are aware and prepared to be supportive and inclusive of all students.

Mental Health Issues On Campus: Understanding Data, Recognizing Red Flags & Assisting Students In Distress on Monday, July 30, 9 am – 10:30 am HST.

This webinar will begin with current data on college mental health trends including center usage rates, underserved populations, diagnostic and medication trends, primary issues facing college mental health providers and “red flags” that indicate possible mental health concerns. Issues of staffing, the importance of prevention outreach, utilizing case management (in and outside of Counseling Services) and BIT work will be explored in relation to how to navigate the distraught emotional student. Basic intervention skills and developing a vocabulary to help a student will be reviewed.

2-Part Webinar Series: Utilizing Group & Intrusive Tutoring Sessions on Tuesday, July 31, 7 am – 8:30 am HST.

While many capable students seek out tutoring to enhance academic success, others inevitably seek help for academic challenges. In order for tutors to effectively assist tutees, particularly those at risk, applying intrusive tutoring strategies are most likely to yield positive results.

Intrusive tutoring draws from other helping professions, such as intrusive advising, to augment and enhance tutoring sessions. Using strategies that draw from the fields of advising, coaching, and counseling will provide critical information about what prevents tutees from thriving. This webinar will help tutors be more comfortable and confident utilizing intrusive strategies with their tutees. The result will be tutees’ increased awareness about the internal and external barriers to their learning.

Utilizing The Training & Experience Of Your Student Veterans By Letting Them Lead Others – Complimentary Webinar on Tuesday, July 31, 9 am – 10:00 am HST.

One of the more frustrating areas of transitioning to campus life that student veterans and active-duty service members face is the appearance of inefficiencies within the curriculum and credit hour system. They come from a system that rewards success, lays out their mission before them, and trains them very hard to achieve goals. The military invests heavily in their ‘members’ and failure is something that they do not like to consider. Their training guidelines and methods are constantly evaluated and upgraded every year based upon feedback within their ranks. This is not the norm on most campuses. This difference can be a major source of frustration, but most student veterans and service members realize this and they simply conform. The area of co-curriculars and required ‘inclusivity’ courses is where their patience is stretched, as these courses are typically designed for an incoming freshman and not for someone who has so much training and experience.

This webinar will show the extent of military training, and it will suggest/demonstrate that you tap into the leadership and experience of the student veteran and service-member to let them lead and to help them lead others.
