Lauhala Saturdays are Back! Join us on Saturday, October 22, 2022 – 10:00am to 1:00pm at Manono Bldg. 112A/B

Aloha mai Faculty and Staff!

The Aloha Club and Chancellor Louise Pagotto would like to invite club members, new members, students and guests to join us for the first of four Lauhala Saturdays on October 22, 2022 at Manono building 112A/B from 10:00am to 1:00pm.  It will also include the Māla Māunuunu cleaning with the Kapoʻoloku Program at 8:00am (participation is optional). Please bring your lunch and favorite beverage and the Aloha Club will provide desserts.

For Faculty and Program Coordinators who are interested in extra credit for your students or just to have them learn more about our Queen Kapiʻolani, please join us from 11am to 12:15pm as Professor Colette Higgins will take us on a journey “IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF KAPIʻOLANI”, which retraces the Queen’s journey from Hawaiʻi to Queen Victoria’s Golden Jubilee celebrations in London, England in 1887.

REVISED Aloha Club Collection Site Information – Not too Late to Join Up!

The Aloha Club is gearing up for an exciting academic year as we helped kick off our, “welcome back” at Fall 2022 Convocation.  It was so amazing to see staff and faculty members in person.  It brought back memories of Convocations of the past when we couldn’t wait to see each other, wear our goofy/sporty/fashionable hats, have some food, and drink some coffee – the good old days are back!  Mahalo nui loa to those of you who contributed dues!

Please Join Us for the Pre-Convocation Breakfast after 8:00 AM on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 in the Cafeteria

Aloha Faculty and Staff of Kapi`olani CC!

On behalf of Chancellor Louise Pagotto, the Aloha Club committee members would like to encourage you to join us on Wednesday, August 17, 2022 after 8:00 AM for the Pre-Convocation Breakfast in the cafeteria.  We are handing out breakfast boxes and water until we run out.   Please note:  You can “Grab-and-Go” or “Dine-In.”

To ensure that you have a great experience at the Pre-Convocation Breakfast, here’s some information about the breakfast box options as well as the traffic flow in the cafeteria:

Breakfast Box Options:

1).  Pancake Breakfast (Pancakes, Bacon, and Egg)

2).  Veggie Burrito (Spinach, Mushroom, White Onions, Bell Peppers,, Eggs, Potatoes, and Cheese)

3).  Regular Burrito (Portuguese Sausage, Cheese, Eggs and Potatoes)

8:00-8:30ish AM

– Check-in at main entrance to the cafeteria – Diamond Head side of the cafeteria

– Pay Aloha Club Dues (cash only) $20 for AY 2022-2023 or $10 for Fall 2022 semester

– Select Breakfast Box (a color “ticket” will be issued to you that will signify the Food Station number)

– Enter cafeteria, sanitize hands, and keep masks on at all times

– Proceed to the Food Station (Aloha Club Committee member will collect the color ticket from you)

– Proceed to the Water Station

– Follow the blue line and exit at the Kahala side of the cafeteria

or

– Stay and eat in the designated area

or

– Eat under the tent outside of the cafeteria

If you are picking up for your office please bring your order and a grocery bag or box.

In the past, the Aloha Club/Committee ushered in so many successful initiatives under previous leadership teams that the current members, with the support of Chancellor Pagotto, would like to bring back the excitement and energy to the mission of the club/committee.   We are looking to find members who have creative ideas and enthusiasm!

The 2022 Food Drive Campaign on campus has come to a close.  A special MAHALO to all of you who took the time to give, either through a monetary donation or with canned food items.  It was great to see so many departments and units participate again this year.  It really showed that the faculty and staff of our college have kind hearts in helping those in need.

An update about the Winners of the Pizza Party – the Aloha and Food Drive Committee are tallying up the numbers to see which department or unit will win the coveted Chancellor’s Pizza Party.  Stay tuned as the winners will be revealed soon!  Again, Chancellor Pagotto will base the awards on the following criteria:

1).  Total Monetary Donations brought in by a department or unit

2).  Total Food (Pounds) brought in by a department or unit

2022 Food Drive Campaign in the Home Stretch This Week, May 9-13!

If you haven’t donated to this year’s 2022 Food Drive Campaign, you still can! Simply click on the link, Online Monetary Donations.

We have extended the date to get your monetary receipts to Jamie Miyashiro.  Email your receipts to jmiyash3@hawaii.edu by Friday, May 13, 2022.

We are also collecting canned food donations.  Email alissak@hawaii.edu for boxes and if you need a pick up from your department office.

We hope you will be able to give from your heart during this time of critical need in helping feed the people in our communities that are trying to make ends meet on a daily basis.  Every dollar donation or canned food donation really goes a long way. Mahalo!

The 2022 Food Drive and Aloha Committee members will be collecting food donations for the annual Food Drive Campaign TODAY, Friday, May 6, 2022 from 1-3 PM at `Iliahi 231.  Just drive in the parking lot and drop off your food canned donations or walk up to the donation drop off site.

We welcome all canned food donations, especially canned meats, poultry, fish and vegetables.

We have less than two weeks to go on our 2022 Food Drive Campaign.  If you have any food donations to drop off, please drop them off on Friday, May 6, 2022, from 1-3 PM at `Iliahi 231.

If you have monetary donations, please drop off the receipts with your total tally to Jamie Miyashiro at `Ilima 212, M-F, from 9 AM to 3 PM, or email jmiyash3@hawaii.edu by May 11, 2022.
