E Komo Mai Bunkyo Gakuin University from Japan!

Aloha! Please welcome Bunkyo Gakuin University students and chaperone to our Kapiʻolani Community College campus on Monday, March 9, 2020.

These students are here for a one-day Intensive Hospitality program in Hawai`i. This program was coordinated by the Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET).

They will attend a lecture about Hawaii Tourism followed by a tour of our campus.

Welcome Aomori Akenohoshi Junior College students from Japan!

Please welcome Aomori Akenohoshi Junior College students from Japan to Kapi’olani Community College (KCC) campus from Friday, February 28th to Saturday, February 29th.

We will have 13 students and two chaperones visit KCC for a two-day intensive Cross Culture and Early Education program coordinated by the Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET).

This group will visit Alani Childcare Center, participate in our Hoʻokipa Me Ke Aloha workshop, and have a special lecture on Hawaiian food.

Welcome, Kanto Gakuin University students!

Please welcome Kanto Gakuin University students from Japan to Kapi‘olani Community College on Thursday, February 6, 2020. 6 students and one escorting faculty will visit our campus for Intensive Cross Cultural Studies Program.

The group will have a Hawaiian Culture Workshop and Japanese class and Hospitality class visits for giving cultural presentations and interactions.

This program is coordinated by Office of Continuing Education and Training.

 

Mini Expo by Hokkaido Yubari High School on Monday, January 13!

Hokkaido Yubari High School students will have a mini-expo at Ohia Cafeteria on Monday, January 13 from 10:30am. The group will promote the city of Yubari. Please stop by and meet with the students!
International Short Term Program at Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET) conducted 6-Days customized program for Yubari high school. The group started the program at Kapiolani Community College from Monday, January 6 and concludes with mini-expo on Monday, January 13.

Welcome, Nakamura International Hotel School from Fukuoka, Japan!

Please welcome Nakamura International Hotel School students from Fukuoka, Japan to Kapi‘olani Community College (KCC) campus starting on Monday, December 2.

18 students and 2 escorting staff will visit KCC for a unique one-week Intensive English and Hospitality program, coordinated by Office of Continuing Education and Training.

This training program will develop students’ English speaking ability as hotel
workers and introduce a cross cultural understanding, customer service, and Hawaiian
hospitality to the students. The group will visit a hotel in Honolulu to observe various types of customer services to accommodate hotel guests’ needs, and how the Hawaiian hospitality is applied.

Welcome, Jikei Fukuoka Bridal, Hotel & Tourism College Students!

Please welcome Jikei Bridal, Hotel & Tourism College students from Fukuoka to Kapi‘olani Community College (KCC). 28 students from Fukuoka campus will visit KCC for Intensive Bridal and Hospitality Program on Wednesday, November 20 to Thursday, November 21.

The group will have English workshop, Haku Lei making workshop, wedding business lecture by a guest speaker, and Ho’okipa Me Ke Aloha workshop. This program is coordinated by Office of Continuing Education and Training.

 

Welcome, Kagoshima Josei High School!

Please welcome Kagoshima Josei High School students from Kagoshima, Japan to Kapiʻolani Community College (KCC) campus on Monday, November 18.

11 students and 1 escorting staff will visit KCC for a unique one day intensive Hospitality Program coordinated by Office of Continuing and Training (OCET).

The group will have a special lecture about hospitality in Hawai’i, Ho’okipa Me Ke Aloha workshop, and English class. The program is designed to strengthen the participant’s foundational understanding of Hospitality in Hawai‘i for seeking their career in hotel and tourism industry with international perspectives. 

Welcome Yokosuka College of Culinary & Pastry Art Students!

Please welcome Yokosuka College of Culinary & Pastry Art students from Kanagawa, Japan to Kapiʻolani Community College (KCC) campus on Friday, September 27 and Saturday 28, 2019.

12 students and 3 escorting staff will visit KCC campus for a unique two-day hands-on culinary arts training program coordinated by the Culinary Arts Program and the Office of Continuing Education and Training (OCET). This training program will introduce Yokosuka College of Culinary & Pastry Art students to Pacific Rim cuisine.

Yokosuka College of Culinary & Pastry Art has come to KCC for many decades. Welcome back!

Welcome, Kanto Gakuin University! (Thursday, Sep 12, 2019)

Please welcome Kanto Gakuin University (Kanagawa, Japan) students to Kapi‘olani Community College (KCC) on Thursday, September 12, 2019. 8 students and 2 escorting staff will visit KCC campus until Friday, September 20.

The program will focus on the Intensive Service Learning Program including a volunteer work, a talk session about service learning in Hawai‘i, and a Japanese class visit at KCC. This program also includes various historical site visits to Iolani Palace, Kamehameha V Judiciary Center, Pearl Harbor National Park, Waianae Mountains Watershed Partnership, Paepae o He’eia, and The Plaza Waikiki.

This program is coordinated by OCET (Office of Continuing Education and Training).

Welcome, Osaka International University! (August 29 – August 31)

Please welcome Osaka International University (OIU) students from Osaka, Japan to Kapi‘olani Community College (KCC) campus.

OIU students will visit KCC for the Intensive Hawaiian Food Culture Program from Thursday, August 29, 2019 to Saturday, August 31, 2019. 

11 students and 2 faculty members will participate in this program coordinated by Office of Continuing Education and Training.

This program is designed for the OIU students to understand food culture in Hawai‘i through various activities. The students will learn about the traditional and modern food culture in Hawai‘i, farm products distribution, current issue on nutrition, and Hawaiian cuisine.
