Welcome back to the Fall 2022 semester. Over the last several semesters and in response to the challenges caused by the COVID19 pandemic, the Testing Center adjusted some workflows and made other improvements to make the testing process easier for students, faculty, and Testing Center staff.
Appointments Required: One of the biggest changes you’ll notice is the shift from walk-in to appointment-based testing. Students in your classes may schedule their academic test appointments in advance by going online to http://www.registerblast.com/Kapiolani
As an option, faculty can also schedule appointments on behalf of their students.
When scheduling an academic test appointment, students are given two (2) categories to choose from:
- Academic Tests
- Academic Tests – Same / Next Day Make Up
“Academic Tests – Same / Next Day Make Up” services are available only to those students who need to “make up” a missed exam right away. Students who do not meet the criteria for make-up testing should schedule using the regular “Academic Tests” category instead. To ensure a smooth testing experience and avoid unnecessary delays, instructors using the same / next day make up testing option should submit their test materials to the Testing Center before your student(s) come in.
For a list of current academic testing services being provided, please refer to: https://newsarchive.kapiolani.hawaii.edu/testing-center-service-updates-for-fall-2022/
Website: You’ll also notice that we made major improvements to the Testing Center website, with a focus on readability and making the website accessible to students with disabilities.
Technology: To prepare for the transition to Windows 11, all 42 computers in the main testing room were upgraded in Spring 2022.
Test Security: This past summer, the video surveillance system was upgraded in the main Lama 101 testing room, and a new video surveillance system was installed in the Lama 118 overflow testing room. In addition, we are planning to install and test Faronics insight software in the overflow testing room so testing staff will have the ability to monitor online tests in both rooms from a single, centralized location.
