The Screencasting Workshop is back at CELTT!

The hands-on Screencast-o-matic Workshop is back!

Want to improve your online or hybrid course with tutorial videos for your students but don’t know where to start?

Screencasting is the process of capturing activities on the screen, optionally combined with audio input. Studies have found that students see videos to be a helpful learning tool and often use videos as tutoring resources.  Students also demonstrate improved learning when their learning process is supplemented with video lectures.*

In this hands-on workshop, we will play with Screencast-o-matic, a FREE and easy-to-use screencasting tool anyone can use to create short screen recordings for your course.  You will create a screenrecorded video for your course that can be published online or downloaded as an mp4 file, and embedded into Laulima.  We will also briefly demonstrate how to add captioning.

Due to the hands-on nature of this workshop, seats are limited to 10 participants each day.
Please bring your own headset with a mic if you have one.

Aloha Faculty, Staff, AGOs, & Student Success Council,

On behalf of the Student Success Council and the admin team, I would like to thank all of you for your unwavering commitment to student success. Thank you for completing and turning in your templates by February 28th—a major accomplishment that you should all celebrate.

So what are the next steps?

Step 1: Review templates. Your program administrators are currently reviewing your templates. What are they looking for? They are primarily looking for 5 things: (1) that strategies and action items align with the Strategic Plan/Directions; (2) that the action items are doable; (4) that the action items are measurable; and (5) that the student learning/service/program outcomes stated align with the Strategic Plan Outcomes & Measures. Here’s where you can access all of the SSP templates: https://tinyurl.com/l8u5rc8

Step 2: Revise templates. If your program administrators determine that your templates need to be slightly revised, they will let you know.

Step 3: Report on status during checkpoints. Your program administrators will check in with you once toward the end of this semester to see how you are progressing with the implementation of your student success templates.

Thank you again. No ke kauhale ke kuleana – Student success is everyone’s responsibility.

Louise Pagotto, Interim Chancellor

Only 32 people at KapCC have responded to the LMS survey

As of Thursday morning, only 32 KapCC faculty and staff members have participated in the LMS replacement survey.  That is fine if you trust the 32 of your KapCC colleagues who have responded to make this important decision for you, as well as the 257 respondents from other campuses. If, however, you want to have your voice heard when the decision is made, please make sure you complete your survey, which was sent out to you last week from kchan@hawaii.edu.

Here is one last link to the videos, and another link to the materials submitted by the applicants, to help inform your decision:
